Sampling of alternatives and the infinite logit model

Project Number: 225

Project Leader: Emma Frejinger

Start Date: 2012-01-01

End Date: 2013-01-31

Description:
How should the paths be sampled (parameters of sampling algorithm) and how many should be sampled in order to have consistent and significant parameter estimates? The infinite logit model proposed by Fosgerau, Frejinger and Karlström (CTS project on dynamic route choice modelling) is a multinomial logit model over an infinite number of alternatives and can be consistently estimated with samples of alternatives. Sampling paths is easy and fast but leads to inefficiency.
